  Buceo Medico Mexicano (BMM) installed the first Hyperbaric Chamber in Cozumel in 1987 to respond to the growing need for a medical facility able to treat divers, and continuously expanded its regional services. BMM Playa Del Carmen first opened its doors in 1995. Since then, we evolved from a small stand-alone recompression chamber to a state of the art hyperbaric facility. Our team now consists of qualified Tenders & Operators, Hyperbaric Safety Directors, Certified Hyperbaric Technicians, Emergency Medical Technicians and Diving Physicians.
We are part of, the oldest and largest network of Hyperbaric Chambers, Subaquatic Safety Services (www.sssnetwork.com), an international organization that services 11 of the world’s most popular diving destinations. We are a PADI affiliated Facility with DAN Referral Physicians on staff, and. BMM Playa Del Carmen services all of the Southern Coast of Quintana Roo, from Puerto Morelos to Xcalak/Majahual. Our specialty is treating diving injuries, including Decompression Illness (“the bends”). Of course injured divers are not the only type of patients that can be treated here. The clinic is attended by two GP’s, who can deal with most types of illnesses and injuries. The clinic features X- ray equipment, has advanced life support capability and a fully equipped overnight patient room. Our physicians are on call 24/7.
Treating patients is only part of our job here at BMM Playa Del Carmen. Almost as important is the prevention of dive accidents through education. There are numerous lectures and seminars being held to the diving community at regular intervals. These lectures are free of charge to our affiliated dive shops and their customers.
